Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, is one of the fastest grow-ing metropolises in the world; characterised by signifi-cant traffic congestion throughout the city. The public transport currently shares the road network with the individual traffic and therefore it is very inefficient.
The objective of the Urban Transport Network Analysis was to identify the most relevant bottlenecks and to improve junctions. At the request of the Kenyan gov-ernment, 80 to 100 junctions should be identified in order to achieve a more stable road net-work and less congestion in Nairobi.
To achieve this aim, a comprehensive analysis was made. Using different survey methods, a macroscopic model was developed for the Nairobi metropolitan area, which was used to select the intersections based on a multi-criteria analysis.
