Operation
Using macroscopic traffic models, we provide a type of traffic modelling that is based on analyses and forecasts of the traffic flows in traffic networks. To achieve this, trips are split in four stages (traffic generation, decision on the destination, choice of the means of transport and route selection) and can be tracked, analysed and estimated using structural information The models enable us to compare various scenarios and to evaluate the effects of traffic-related measures like road construction or removal, traffic control or extension of public transport. They allow for long-term strategic planning and effective designing of the transport system.
